I encountered this bug while using Fiesty. I recently installed Gutsy,
and now it seems to have gotten worse. I was seeking in an mkv file
using VLC and VLC locked up for a few seconds, and then the system
halted without warning and the computer rebooted.

I am new at testing ubuntu, so I don't know where to look for kernel
logs that might shed light on what happened internally. If such
information would be helpful, could someone tell me where I ought to
look?

I have VLC package 0.8.6.release.c-0ubuntu5 installed.
