** Description changed: Hello, this is my first bug report: I did a network upgrade to Gutsy from Feisty on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite M40) with no problems with sound. However, auto-suspend (after specified amount of time in system > preferences > power manager) would act funny on resume -- it would immediately go into hibernation after entering the password to unlock the screen. I am using kernel 2.6.22-14-generic. Anyhow, yesterday I closed the laptop lid while the computer was suspended (power manager setting is to hibernate when lid is closed), and this morning, it seemed to resume with no problems, except that the master volume (in the panel control) was set to mute. I turned the - volume back up, but still there was no sound -- even after rebooting, - reinstalling alsa, suspending to RAM with everything muted and resuming - (as suggested on Ubuntu forums) -- nothing. I don't know if it was - because of this action specifically -- it may have been due to a kernel - update from 2.6.22-10-generic. + volume back up, but still there was no sound -- even after various + combinations of rebooting, reinstalling alsa, suspending to RAM with + everything muted and resuming (as suggested on Ubuntu forums) -- + nothing. Will attach outputs specified here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSoundProblems as soon as I figure out how to use launchpad.
