I agree, desktop Linux Bluetooth audio support is a bit immature still,
in places.

However the Bluetooth, audio, and application software interfaces are
all very different between desktop Linux and Android. Android and
desktop Linux (like Ubuntu) don't have much in common there, so of
course they might have different capabilities.
