After logging in, my actual tests move several gigabytes of http traffic - downloads of incompressible data in files ranging from 16KB to 16MB - complete without incident.
I've been resorting to establishing an ssh control channel while the test laptops are in short range, then taking them to the longer range and running the actual tests, using the already established control channel to avoid the need for re authentication. Literally *everything* but SSH pub key auth functions at long range.
