Public bug reported:
Using Xubuntu 16.04 LTS, with current updates.
The events (according to xev) that Control+e action generates is:
FocusIn event, serial 37, synthetic NO, window 0x4000001,
mode NotifyUngrab, detail NotifyAncestor
while other Control+key actions generate KeyPress and KeyRelease events, with
the respective key set in. I had noticed that first when tried to make a
Control+e key binding that did not work for me though; then I checked it with
xev that confirmed that Control+e does not work properly.
Notice that both Control+Shift+e and Control+Alt+e work correctly, alike the
other Control+key cases.
Once I was able to temporarily make Control+e work by removing US keyboard and
adding (some version of) it back. Though it vanished after restart, and can not
make it work again any more.
Am not sure what actually causes this issue, whether it is XFCE, something
about keyboards, some general Ubuntu part, or (possibly) some app stealing it
(could that ever be?).
