Sorry for not replying till now. Problem was with the hardware of my computer. I had to replace the old motherboard with a new one,
Yesterday I successfully installed Ubuntu 16.04.1 and for the first time and even did a full update without any problems (except one) I have a 3g Micromax modem which is detected by Ubuntu 14.04.5 but not by Ubuntu 16.04.1 So I first installed Ubuntu 14.04.1 on my system, activated the Micromax 3G modem. Restarted the system to boot Ubuntu 16.04.1 live DVD. Started Ubuntu 16.04.1 without installing and was able to setup my 3G Micromax modem as a mobile broadband modem. I then was able to install Ubuntu 16.04.1 to get updates while installing. However today when i started my system my modem was not getting connected again so I restarted the system booting Ubuntu 14.04 from live dvd then set up the modem. Then restarted from the hard drive and now Ubuntu 16.04 has detected the modem . ( How this worked is beyond me ) I will be trying out a different modem in a few days and i think it will solve the problem Thank you for all the help and support and for making me so happy.
