Got the same problem here. Might be result of not correctly going through adept dist-upgrade but instead using apt-get dist-upgrade because the former had gone nuts, see also https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/adept/+bug/147429 (So, exactly the same as Mike)
