FYI in case someone can't wait for a package update being shipped, the
workaround mentioned in the other bug works for me:
$handle = ssh2_sftp($conn);
//scandir("ssh2.sftp://$handle/$path";);
scandir("ssh2.sftp://".intval($handle)."/$path");
