I'm getting this several times a day now, so if there is an update I should notice quite quickly whether it has had an impact. In case there is a common link I also have other bugs against the mate-dock-applet:
Bug #1715234 - Dock doesn't scroll Bug #1715236 - Icons never stop flashing Bug #1716218 - Firefox creates a second dock icon In which case is there something in the upgrade process from 17.04 that has failed to bring in a dependency, not upgraded or in some other way interfering with the way things would work with a clean install?
