The commande "xrandr --output default --mode 1680x1050" doesn't change
anything.

With the initial settings, after reinstallation of kubuntu, I check
Monitor & Display>Display Format. It was set to 4:3. I change to 16:9
without effect.

I remember that with Opensuse, the problem was solved with a graphical
tool which permit to slighty modify the monitor frequency. Do you know
such a tool on command line?
