OK, this might be a bug in xlib or higher. I ran thunderbird through
xmon and capture the keypress/keyrelease events. I've attached the
output. The first four events are me hitting "Ctl-L" to forward a
message (all of the detail keycodes appear to be off by one). The
forward dialog comes up and I started to type "sp", but nothing showed.
I continued to hit alternating "s" and "p" and nothing showed. You can
see from the even log, though, that X is sending the events. I'm going
to have to look into how I can debug Xlib or GTK key event handling
next.
