Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

run `sudo apt install linux-image-extra-4.10.0-30-generic`

run `sudo apt remove fonts-dejavu-core`

run `sudo apt remove linux-image-extra-4.10.0-30-generic`

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->
About Ubuntu

Description: Ubuntu 17.04
Release: 17.04

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
pkgname' or by checking in Software Center

Installed: 4.10.0-30.34

3) What you expected to happen

linux-image-extra-4.10.0-30-generic is removed.

4) What happened instead

cp: cannot stat '/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSerif.ttf': No such
file or directory
E: /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/plymouth failed with return 1.
update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-4.10.0-30-generic with 1.
run-parts: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/initramfs-tools exited with return code 1
dpkg: error processing package linux-image-extra-4.10.0-30-generic (--remove):
subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 linux-image-extra-4.10.0-30-generic

This is especially annoying because when you run `sudo apt install
fonts-dejavu-core`, apt attempts to remove linux-image-
extra-4.10.0-30-generic, then fails, then doesn't install fonts-dejavu-
core. This also happens when you try to install any other package.
