Public bug reported: Last checked on Ubuntu Gnome 17.10.
VirtualBox requires net-tools for it's host-only network. As a host-only network is configured out-of-the-box, `net-tools` should install automatically as a dependency. It currently isn't listed and is not automatically installed. Installing `net-tools` and rebooting fixes the problem, but clearly shouldn't be necessary. It may be that `net-tools` is installed automatically with the standard Ubuntu Desktop, but not all Ubuntu flavours include it so it should not be relied upon. ** Affects: virtualbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1721386 Title: VirtualBox requires net-tools To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox/+bug/1721386/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
