Removing the above nvidia package immediately resolves the issue and I am able to login to a graphic session as normal.
** Description changed: - Description: Ubuntu Artful Aardvark (development branch) - Release: 17.10 + OS: Ubuntu Artful Aardvark (development branch), Release: 17.10 + Package: nvidia-384 - Expected: To be able to login + Laptop model: Lenovo Z50 - Actual: + Graphics: Gforce 840M + + Expected behaviour: To be able to login. + + Actual behaviour: After installing the Nvidia 384.90 driver from the nvidia-384 package and rebooting, I am unable to login to a graphical session. The system boots without issue and I enter credentials to login. After clicking the button to login (or hitting Enter), the system immediately suspends. Hitting any key on the keyboard resumes, to a blank (black) screen. The system then hangs entirely unresponsive. I am unable even to drop to terminal. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1721903 Title: nvidia-384 driver causes immediate suspension upon login & subsequent system hang with blank screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1721903/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
