Public bug reported:
In system with multiple user account with automatic login enabled, automatic
login works as expected, after reboot I get the wayland session for that
account. But when switching to another account there is no Ubuntu desktop
option, only Ubuntu on Xorg, Unity and some others like LXDE I have installed.
Without automatic login, I can select Ubuntu for all sessions and it's the
default.
I did't do a fresh install but have upgraded the system from 17.04.
