Tonight I had some friends over and I demonstrated the nice new 3d desktop in gutsy. They were terribly annoyed by the artifacts described in this bug. So I made a video of my desktop exhibiting the bug:
http://u.no.net/lnl .. In this video I am using several pull-down menus which you do not see properly. You will notice very annoying screen flickerings. They show exactly how it looks on my desktop, except for the poor frame-rate, and also due to the poor frame rate I believe some of the most annoying effects were hidden from the video file.
