Public bug reported:
[Summary]
kdump-tools service does not start automatically at boot on Ubuntu 17.10
(4.13.0-12-generic x86_64 kernel). Because of this, the kernel crash dump is
not working.
[Steps]
- Tried enabling it using systemctl. No errors were shown after enabling it,
but after reboot the service is still not running.
- "kdump-config show" is reporting "current state: Not ready to kdump"
- "kdump-config load" command worked and the state changed to "ready to kdump".
kdump-tools service is still stopped but VM reboots (and a dump is generated)
if a crash is triggered.
- Starting the kdump-tools service is also ok. After it is started, a crash
dump is generated in case of system crash.
