The problem still exists in the new 2.0.0.8 release for gutsy. I deleted
my ~/.mozilla directory and only installed the google toolbar in the new
configuration. As soon as I open a third window firefox freezes. With
the 2.0.0.8 version from mozilla.com everythings works fine.

I get the following strace output of the gutsy version:

...

[pid 7881] futex(0x8098ad8, FUTEX_WAKE, 1) = 0
