Public bug reported: I'm currently doing the following Ubuntu 16.04 server guide:
https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/serverguide/openvpn.html When it comes to the "Certificate Authority Setup" in trying to generate the master Certificate Authority (CA) certificate and key. You get the following error after doing "./build-ca": 140529258620568:error:0E065068:configuration file routines:STR_COPY:variable has no value:conf_def.c:584:line 198 Looking at developers github page (https://github.com/OpenVPN/easy- rsa/blob/master/easyrsa3/easyrsa), it states to "add a subjectAltName". After adding, "export KEY_ALTNAME="something", to the /etc/openvpn/easy- rsa/vars I was able to complete the ./build-ca Please modify this server guide so no one else runs into this issue. ** Affects: serverguide Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: easy-rsa (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: openvpn (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: openvpn (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: easy-rsa (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724124 Title: Ubuntu 16.04 - Ubuntu Server Guide - VPN - OpenVPN To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/serverguide/+bug/1724124/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
