Minor note for your minor gotcha. If gnome-session is installed, won't
it instead default to GNOME instead of the Ubuntu session? (My
understanding is that if it can't find the last enabled session, it uses
the first session alphabetically.) In other words, doesn't this still
have the same problem you mentioned in comment #2?
