Encountered the same issue during ISO Testing. From the traceback I see this should be really simple to fix.
As a workaround for those that do encounter this bug, ubiquity only crashes when the format checkbox is checked in the main partition list view. If you click on the partition, then Edit and check the format checkbox in the edit form, all succeeds and the partition is marked for formatting correctly.
