The bug persists still in Ubuntu 7.10. The output from my litte player application is now this:
ALSA lib confmisc.c:769:(parse_card) cannot find card '' ALSA lib conf.c:3510:(_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_card_driver returned error: No such device ALSA lib confmisc.c:392:(snd_func_concat) error evaluating strings ALSA lib conf.c:3510:(_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_concat returned error: No such device ALSA lib confmisc.c:1251:(snd_func_refer) error evaluating name ALSA lib conf.c:3510:(_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_refer returned error: No such device ALSA lib conf.c:3982:(snd_config_expand) Evaluate error: No such device ALSA lib pcm.c:2144:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default unable to open pcm device: No such device The output is quite similar, the only significant difference I can see is that instead of "cannot find card 'AudioPCI'", it instead says "cannot find card ''". The output from asoundconf list is this: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/alsa$ asoundconf list Names of available sound cards: ICH5 When I upgraded to 7.10, I got a message that it was required to run asoundconf something (I don't remember exactly what). So I did that, hoping it would help this situation. But unfortunately it didn't. Please tell me if there is any more information I should provide, or tests to do. -- alsa sound works only as root https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134942 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
