Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pidgin
When configured for ssl connections or OTR communication, pidgin incorrectly sets the key files to be world and group readable (other files in .purple are appropriately permissioned). pidgin sensibly fails to save information in these incorrectly permissioned files at startup, but does not maintain persistant keys between sessions, as the previous data is untrusted on application restart. The user is presented with warning dialogs, and must close them unless the permissions are manually adjusted. ** Affects: pidgin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Visibility changed to: Public -- ~/.purple/id* and ~/.purple/otr.private_key are mode 644 and should be mode 600 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156204 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
