This occurs also with Kubuntu 17.10 RTM and VMware Workstation Pro 12.5.7-5813279. I remember that on 17.04 it didn't occur. I used to install the same version of VMWare Workstation in Kubuntu 17.04, running inside a virtual machine (just for testing purposes).
