Sorry I can not test/ install the latest upstream kernel because of my
wifi drivers. As you can see in order to test/ install the kernel
version I have to disable, and uninstall proprietary drivers. My
broadcom wireless drivers fall into that category.

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.14 kernel[0].
If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.
If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".
Thanks in advance.

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
No matter the interface I choose Ubuntu 17.10 freezes/ crashes. Unity,
Ubuntu (Gnome), Ubuntu (Gnome) with Xorg, Kodi, and SteamOS. I looked
it up, and everybody has had this issue in the beta constantly. There
was no fix, and it only seems to get worse. Most of the time it
freezes after 20 minutes of running Ubuntu.
