noticed its just a listing problem, when packets goes through the
interface, iptraf shows the name of the interface correctly (eth0,
wlan0).

I dont think so, however i tested stoping NetworkManager, manually
configuring my Nic eth0 and still getting the same results.

$ uname -r
2.6.31.9-174.fc12.x86_64

NM should not interfere with iptraf operations.
