** Changed in: edk2 (Ubuntu Artful)
Status: New => In Progress
** Description changed:
- lsb_release -rd
- Description: Ubuntu 17.10
- Release: 17.10
- Kernel Version: 4.13.0-16.19
+ [Impact]
+ Windows 10 guests using IDE storage fail to boot (or boot *really* slowly)
- After a full system upgrade from Zesty to Artful, Windows 10 virtual
- machine was no longer able to boot.
+ [Test Case]
+ Boot a Windows 10 install ISO, using an emulated IDE drive on an i440fx model.
- I am currently using an ACS patched kernel in order to support GPU
- passthrough for use with Windows 10.
-
- Problem was fixed by downgrading OVMF package from ovmf_0-20170911
- .5dfba97c-1_all.deb to ovmf_0-20161202.7bbe0b3e-1_all.deb.
+ [Regression Risk]
+ The fix is a partial revert of a change that landed upstream between zesty &
artful. Since there were no similar issues reported w/ the zesty release, it
somewhat mitigates the risk that a regression is out there. The fix is ATA
specific, so any regressions should be localized to guests that use ATA.
