Update: I have fully tested on the latest release of Ubuntu (17.10)

It seems there has been some improvement. I can now suspend and shutdown
without a problem and the battery is recognized!

Stability is not quite what it should be though - sometimes gnome
becomes unresponsive and crashes and when I press the power button to
resume from standby it turns on only to go back to sleep right away.

The audio card seems to randomly disappear too. I have to open a
terminal and use Alsa to manually select and turn up the audio.

The battery indicator is good, but this still needs work.
