Hello David,
"Might the problem be compiz / compiz-fusion?" : yes it is recommanded to
ununstall beryl (all beryl packages) and install compiz packages, i do that
and it work fine with emerald. so, be sure that your vidéo card is up to
date ...is it an ATI ?
