thank you very much for this. I found skype finally under a folder sort of hidden .unknown and was able to de-install it and re-install it only two days ago and it seems to work fine now... it's great to know about this other way with synaptic though i was really at a loss, being blocked for something that simple... ill keep it in mind. thank you.
