Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22
Hello,
This is very similar to bug #129910 in symptoms, however I am not not using a
framebuffer or passing any vga parameters to the kernel. I can see the system
boot with usplash off (and on) and gdm loads fine. However, whenever I switch
to any of the vt's all I get is a blank screen. This screen is white and looks
like the LCD just isn't be initialized. I can switch back to vt7 and the
display comes back to life and everything is fine. I can do blind logins on
any of the vt1-6 and it is actually active. The laptop is a Gateway 450ROG
with a Radeon Mobility 9000 using the open source radeon driver. :
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon RV250
[Mobility FireGL 9000] (rev 02)
I didn't have this problem in dapper->feisty. I did a fresh install of
Gutsy and still seeing this with an out-of-the-box install.

I have tried to explicitly use a frame buffer and apply the fixes listed
in #129910, but none of them seem to help.
