Hello Team,
I have submitted bug as you suggested in bugs.isc.org with all needed information as given below. ========================== We got the same issues on 4 servers more than 2-3 times, all running with same OS, Bind version as I mentioned in my first report. Given below the crashdump from 3 servers for your reference. cdns01 crashdump(Already shared to you): http://81.91.12.28/_usr_sbin_named.108.crash.gz cdns02 crashdump: http://81.91.12.28/cdns_02_sbin_named.108.crash.gz cdns03 crashdump: http://81.91.12.28/cdns_03_sbin_named.108.crash.gz Named conf: named-checkconf -px -> output from cdns02 server. http://shafil.thehostingplatform.com/EGwfVaUbar ------- cdns01 - Crashed on Dec 05, 11, 12 and Dec 14 http://shafil.thehostingplatform.com/becWvt44yx - Today's log before it crashed. cdns02 - Crashed on Dec 05 and 07 cdns03 - Crashed on Dec 05 and 11 ========================== Their final reply and conclusion: ========================= Hi Jay, I managed to reproduce the precondition required for triggering the crash you reported in the version of BIND contained in the official Ubuntu 16.04.3 packages. However, applying the same method to an unpatched BIND 9.10.3-P4 did not cause the issue to be triggered. This leads me to believe the problem is Ubuntu-specific and thus needs to be solved by Ubuntu maintainers. Feel free to let Ubuntu maintainers know that, if needed, I can provide them (through a secure channel) with information about how the problem can be triggered so that they can troubleshoot further. That is as far as I can go to help solve an issue in an outdated version of BIND patched by a third party. Your best bet is to update to a currently supported, unpatched version of BIND. I will thus close this ticket, but if you hit the same problem again with an up-to-date, unpatched version, please do not hesitate to reopen it. ========================= So, upstream developers confirmed and able to reproduce the reported bug in the official Ubuntu 16.04.3 packages. They tried the same in same version of BIND in original(non Ubuntu) no issues found and BIND was not crashing. Please check further on this. Awaiting your valuable inputs.
