It doesn't look like "most" of the time. The screenshot shows the machine has been up 26 days and that gnome-shell process has consumed 641 minutes of CPU, which is less than 7 hours.
It's definitely a bit strange, but not most of the time. It's only consumed about 2% of the machine's CPU time since it booted. I agree it's too much, but this is not a High severity bug. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: High => Medium ** Summary changed: - gnome-shell under gdm user eats CPU most of time + gnome-shell under gdm user eats more CPU than other processes ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1735389 Title: gnome-shell under gdm user eats more CPU than other processes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1735389/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
