Hey, I had this same problem and I was able to get around it by
disabling sophos-av.

 sudo /opt/sophos-av/bin/savdctl disable
 sudo apt-get install -f
 sudo apt-get upgrade
 sudo /opt/sophos-av/bin/savdctl enable
