Public bug reported:
The Virtualbox guest additions currently shipped by this package (5.1.16
according to modinfo) make screen refreshing in X11 noticeably slow.
Before installing virtualbox-guest-x11-hwe 5.0.40-dfsg-
0ubuntu1.16.04.1~16.04.4, I was using virtualbox-guest-x11 5.1.18 from
zesty and screen refresh was normal. After moving to the HWE stack and
thus downgrading my Virtualbox guest additions, screen refresh became
very slow. The machine is an Ubuntu Xenial guest on a MacOS X Virtualbox
5.1.30 host.
Please ship a more recent version of the guest additions with
virtualbox-hwe (at least 5.1.18, but 5.1.30 would be even better) to fix
this problem.
