I'm a bit late to the party but I am happy to report that at least my Lenovo
Yoga 720 is not affected. I installed Ubuntu 17.10 on a new Yoga days before
this hit the news. Got me a bit nervous. But the Yoga's bios is OK, it reports
being manufactured by Lenovo so I guess it is not the kind of chip that is
getting locked by the drivers.
And all features of the Yoga 720 works out of the box with Ubuntu 17.10, except
the fingerprint identification and automatic screen orientation. So I can
recommend the combination.
