I can confirm that the steps in the bug description, helped me to solve
the BIOS issue. I finally was able to replace my old small SSD for a
brand new 500GB. I am very very happy.

Thank you so much, specially to Mika Westerberg for his efforts and all the 
help and dedication. And to Anthony Wong from Canonical for keeping his cool 
and reassuring people that we will get this issue solved. 
It has been a very stressful month since I discovered it and was fearing I have 
a bricked laptop, but I can confirm today that it´s now fixed.
