WiFi problem with 4.13.0-26 generic: I believe this bug is bigger than just x11 display issue the described by Ulli.
Using ISOs for Xubuntu 16.04.2 and 16.04.3, I experienced a *no WiFi network* issue. To install, I first ran in "try ubuntu" mode from optical media. At this point, I had functional WiFi. After rebooting, I had none. Evidently, updating the kernel during install caused the problem! After reboot, I found that, if, during boot, I dropped back from 4.13.0-26 generic to 4.10.0-28-generic, WiFi networking magically appeared. I only found this kludgy work-around by accident, having spent several hours checking on drivers, etc. FWIW, this was on a Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 4 laptop with Intel WiFI; as I said, the correct drivers were present. If 4.13.0-26 is bad, it should be fixed or withdrawn and the update path should be fixed. One should not encounter a bad kernel during installation! /Roger -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1743399 Title: scrambled X11 display with linux-image-4.13.0-26 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe/+bug/1743399/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
