I intend to investigate later who is calling hdparm to set hard disc power management parameters. I intend to do this by replacing the hdparm binary with a dummy script that will log it's execution date, parameters and a pstree. I hope by this to find out who and when calls hdparm. If it is a bios default issue (which I really doubt !) then I will not find any hdparm execution with power management related parameters.
