it's a shame this fix you provide really solve the problem : ****************************** Insert the file /usr/share/doc/mplayer/examples/etc/codecs.conf.gz to /etc/mplayer/codecs.conf o be part of the package, as a configuration file. Also, edit it, moving the whole mad entry right before the mp3lib entry. Also, the line ac=mad, at /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf can be commented / removed. ******************************
