For what it's worth I retried the exact same installation options/setup as this bug report, but with the network cable disconnected. It worked flawlessly.
After installation I connected the network cable, booted the machine, then performed an apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade. Again, no errors and it survived a reboot. odd. is the 17.10.1 desktop installer downloading something if it has a network connection, even if the user doesn't check the box to download updates during install? Seems like the logical cause given the circumstances I've experienced here. If you want logs from my machine that i installed successfully (with no network connection during install phase) let me know what commands/files you'd like output from. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1744807 Title: 17.10.1 desktop install from usb key fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1744807/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
