Hi Christian, xenial only has 2.15-1ubuntu1.1 which still uses a sysV init script and that works on Xenial. The version in artful might have an arbitrary amount of dependencies to its systemd or other components - I don't think pulling that back to xenial is reasonable.
I checked xenial and artful. 3.2.0-4ubuntu2 works on artful 2.15-1ubuntu1.1 works on xenial Both as expected. On artful which uses the service file I see this path: PIDFile=/var/run/nagios/nrpe.pid And the file is properly filled with the correct PID. The pid is set by systemd, nagios doesn't need write access to it. For the artful/xenial version hybrid I don't immediately see why it would break, but it is neither supported nor recommended to do so :-/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1744030 Title: systemd does not create directory for pid file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nagios-nrpe/+bug/1744030/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
