How and why did you install the apt-config-auto-update package? update-
notifier-common is part of all Ubuntu images by default; and apt-config-
auto-update has an undeclared conflict with this package.
You should remove apt-config-auto-update with 'sudo apt purge apt-
config-auto-update', and then reinstall update-notifier-common.
And the update-notifier-common package should be updated to declare a
Conflicts: against apt-config-auto-update.
