I can confirm that kernel 4.13.0-33.36 work ok on my hardware (Asus Zenbook UX305) and this kernel has applied all patches for Spectre+Meltdown. The same result with kernel 4.15.2 from Canonical mainline ppa. So you have choice - vanilla kernel or Ubuntu kernel.
