HAL error message gone for me after change concurrency back to none from
shell in /etc/init.d/rc .

I'm running Gusty on an Intel Core 2 Duo e6550.

I changed the concurrency setting after reading an article on the net
saying that chaning the setting would speed up Ubuntu, especially on
dual core machines...apparently, that's not the case?
