I do apologize for frequent posting, but it looks like Evilspy's solution is *REAL* (kudos to him). It's probably the simplest possible workaround available right now (apart from eliminating compiz entirely). At least, it works for me as well.
ASUS M2NPV-VM motherboard with NVidia GeForce 6150 GPU: 1) enter your bios settings 2) go to Advanced/Chipset/Frame Buffer Size 3) default is 64M, increase to 256M 4) reboot 5) play with your cube, windows & effects and monitor memory usage of compiz.real Prior to this modification I managed to exaust 1Gb of memory in 5 minutes just by playing with windows. Now compiz is almost stuck at 37/38Mb and, trust me, I have played with a lot of windows and made dozens of cube rotations. I have just decreased frame buffer size from 256M to 128M in order to spare some RAM for OS and it looks promising so far: still at 38Mb. P.S. I don't have a slightest idea what 'frame buffer size' really mean -- Memory leak in nvidia-glx-new's GL_EXT_texture_from_pixmap https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151168 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
