I can confirm that #19 works, as well. Also applied the suggestions in #24. Ubuntu 17.10 on a Lenovo Ideapad Y910-17ISK with a GTX 1070. I don't notice any flicker or any problem. The audio device has just appeared, and everything works fine now :-) Thanks a lot!!
