This seems to be fixed in xpdf 3.04-5; in my testing today, chromium
will only show the first page, but xpdf and evince seem to display page
2 and 5 as you describe. xpdf outputs some error messages:
Syntax Error: Failed to parse XRef entry [43].
Syntax Error: Failed to parse XRef entry [43].
Internal Error: xref num 43 not found but needed, try to reconstruct<0a>
So i think this is a damaged PDF file, and libpoppler has learned to
deal with that in the meantime.
