Public bug reported:

machine is HP Notebook with 1TB drive along side with Windows 10.
Previous message was Partition #9 scsi1(0,0,0(sda as ext4), but when
installing grub 2, system displayed unable to install grub2 in /dev/sda.
Then with a pop-up box stating that was a fatal error!

Installation CD source was LINUX Format magazine issue 224 which
included a 17.04 formatted CD!

I was expecting the grub menu to be installed so that when I completed
the installation, I could select between ubuntu 17.04 and Win 10.

Because I don't have the unity screen, I can not check lsb_release
