Toshiba made this machines to work "exclusively" with Windows XP. I tried to get a refund in Mexico but I had to sue Toshiba and I did not had the time then. > i'm sure we all have better things to do with our time than have toshiba > waste it for us. > You are correct!!!, I'will not loose my time bitching toshiba for something I already know that will not happen. Instead, I'll change for a Lenovo or a Dell which offer Linux preloaded, then I will bitch them if something does not work Being a Toshiba user since 1995 tihs move will affect me 'cause I really love this machine but I'm not windows user anymore. > otherwise , does anyone want to take up a 24/7 support contract > with Canonical maybe they will do something if you that. > @250usd and @900usd it isnt cheap... > > If you want to take a 24/7 cost support from ubuntu (which I'll always respect if you do), then I will ask u... why don't you change to another distro? OpenSuSE 10.3 works almost out of the box, Mandriva 2008.0 Works almost out of the box, Debian Testing (Lenny) Works out of the box!!! Install Debian Testing and Ubuntize it :)... I must tell u one thing.. I really love Ubuntu!!! but 3 distros against one just work!!! so my love is one thing and the facts are another thing. Tomorrow I'll give my last bet & bit to Ubuntu(just in this machine off course) with the hacked kernels by lolivirouge and that's it!!! Right now I must only decide if I shall keep opensuse or mandriva in this laptop for "healthy sake !!! This is my primarly working laptop so I cannot be "pocking around" al the time :) Ubuntu has really disappointed me with their classic "one step forward 2 steps backwards". I've already had it!!! Good luch Luis -- toshiba p100 series dsdt acpi error no sound, works with acpi turned off. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136469 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
